Prior to 2001, September the 11th was only a tremendous celebration for the Catalan people of Spain. No, it was wasn’t for military victory, but actually for a defeat! While September the 11th is now known for the attack on New York City, it’s still celebrated as the National Day of Catalonia despite the fact that Catalonia isn’t even a nation.
No idea what that means? Well, then come on down and grab a table at B44, the most authentic Catalan restaurant in the entire San Francisco Bay Area. If a little pa amb tomàquet followed by arròs and a crema catalana for dessert doesn’t put you in the mood to celebrate the end of the Catalan country 300 years ago, then nothing will.
Just remember your red and gold and don’t even think about asking where the bulls are–it’s donkeys or nothing.
